APPA Announcement
APPA Acknowledges the Leadership and Legacy of Stuart Rogers
The Australian Pool Players Association (APPA) extends its sincere thanks to Stuart Rogers, who has stepped down from his role as Chairman after several years of dedicated service to the sport and its community.
Stuart’s tenure marked a period of significant transformation for APPA. When he assumed leadership following the handover from the Australian Pool Players Federation, the organisation held modest financial reserves. Through disciplined management, strategic planning, and a clear long‑term vision, Stuart guided APPA to a position of financial strength, growing reserves from approximately $1,250 to more than $50,000. This stability now underpins APPA’s future growth and national responsibilities.
A major focus of Stuart’s leadership was modernising APPA’s governance. He oversaw the transition from an incorporated association to a company limited by guarantee, ensuring APPA aligned with contemporary governance standards. He also initiated and advanced the National Sporting Organisation (NSO) application process, laying essential groundwork for APPA’s future recognition at the national level.
Stuart’s influence extended well beyond governance. He represented Australia internationally as a member of the WPA Board for two years and played a central role in delivering more than fifteen National Titles and multiple major Oceania events. Under his leadership, the Oceania 10‑Ball Championship in New Zealand achieved its largest prize fund in history, with USD $30,000 added. He also contributed significantly to the successful delivery of two Oceania Heyball Opens.
His commitment to athlete development has been equally impactful. Stuart supported the inaugural Parasport Heyball World Championships in Los Angeles, assisted with the Junior Heyball World Championships in Australia, and helped coordinate athletes, uniforms, and travel logistics. He also established the APPA Referee Program and oversaw the appointment of Alice Wu as Head Referee — a milestone that strengthens the sport’s officiating standards nationally.
Stuart played a key role in national team selections for WC Heyball, the Commonwealth Billiards Championships, and the World Cup. He also handled sensitive matters, including the WCBS investigation regarding a top Australian Player with professionalism and care.
Beyond administration, Stuart has been a driving force in building partnerships across cue sport codes, securing valuable sponsorships, and developing APPA’s strategic plan for 2026 and beyond. His work has created a strong foundation for the organisation’s continued growth.
APPA also acknowledges the personal commitment behind these achievements. Stuart balanced his leadership responsibilities while managing multiple business ventures within the cue sports industry. His dedication, time, and energy — often given at personal cost — have left a lasting legacy.
We extend our gratitude to Stuart for his leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to the sport. We also acknowledge the collaborative relationships he fostered with APPA’s team, including Fleur Williamson, Pinar Yildrim, Barry Mavros, Rob Carnell, Mark Harper, Justin Sajich, and the late Marvin Monzon, as well as the support he received from Mr Barry Jenner.
APPA moves forward stronger, more professional, and better positioned for the future thanks to Stuart’s contributions. We wish him every success in his ongoing ventures within the cue sports industry and look forward to seeing the positive impact he will continue to make.
Thank you, Stuart, for your service and dedication. Your legacy will continue to shape APPA for years to come.
Volunteers Wanted.
APPA also takes this moment to remind our community that the strength of our sport relies on the dedication of volunteers. As we continue to grow, we welcome expressions of interest from individuals who are passionate about supporting cue sports in Australia. Whether in governance, event delivery, athlete pathways, or operational support, new volunteers play a vital role in shaping the future of our national body.
